Welcome! I’m Laurie and I am a licensed professional counselor in Michigan with 26 years of experience helping clients to examine issues that may be causing unhappiness and pain in their life. I want my clients to feel heard and respected at all times. I believe healing happens through connection, and small meaningful steps, and I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you along the way. I use a very warm, genuine approach and I believe in collaborative, compassionate therapy, while guiding clients to recognize their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how these might influence each other.

I was inspired to become a therapist because 30 years ago my twin four-year-old boys developed Leukemia and eventually both children died. During this very difficult time, there were many people who went out of their way to help us, and I don't know what we would have done without them. Although the grief of losing two children never goes away, after their deaths I went back to college and decided I wanted to "give back" to others and become a therapist. I specialized in grief and loss and death and dying, and even developed and taught a death and dying class for an area university. While my practice addresses a wide range of diverse psychological challenges, I also work closely with individuals navigating acute grief and loss. Other specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma, domestic violence and chronic illness issues.
